From Ceylon to the World
Comforting, aromatic Sri Lankan flavours, served with warm hospitality. At Ceylon M8, kotthu and fried rice give you plates full of spice, aroma, and generous portions, made to be easy to enjoy, relaxing to sit with, and worth coming back for.

Our story
Ceylon M8 is a dream come true, born from a wish to share the bold, unforgettable flavours we enjoyed in Sri Lanka with people in the UK. We care deeply about every plate that leaves the kitchen, and our team brings years of hands-on experience in the UK dining environment, blended with Sri Lankan roots and a genuine love of welcoming guests.
At Newport Market in Newport, South Wales, Ceylon M8 sits in the middle of a lively, modern food space, offering Sri Lankan dishes designed to feel both comforting and exciting for anyone who visits. Our menu leans into some of Sri Lanka's most loved flavours, with kotthu and fried rice at the centre, alongside devilled chicken, hot butter squid, mutton rolls, fresh salads, kids' bowls, and drinks ranging from fresh juices to Ceylon teas and familiar soft drinks.
Everything is chosen with guests in mind. The food should feel warm and generous, the service calm and friendly, and the experience relaxed, whether someone is grabbing a quick lunch, sitting down with friends, or visiting Newport Market specially to try Sri Lankan food. Our hope is simple: that Ceylon M8 feels like a place where people are welcomed, cared for, and always looking forward to their next visit.

“Absolutely amazing. It's my first time trying Sri Lankan food and I'm mindblown by the explosion of flavours in the chicken kottu, freshly fried, well-spiced, scrumptiously aromatic.”

“Proper Sri Lankan street food vibes, nothing fancy, but the flavours are bang on. The kottu roti is the one to get, loads of flavour, really filling, and cooked fresh.”
